Introduction
Dear visitor, dear medical fellow,
EPLD medical association for the right for life and his members defend human life and dignity of heavyly brain-demaged or dying patients.
Therfore it is necessary to have a good definition of brain-death.
But this is not possible:
Exist many more definitions of life than of death.
EPLD and Catholic physicians oppose the actual definition of brain-death and try to convince the medical fellowship, the professors and both the Christan churches (!) in Germany too, to awake and to protect their patients really.
EPLD-medical association (Germany) values the official brain-death definition and concept.
1. Definition
- What do we understand as "brain-death"?
Answer:
Irreversibly blocked total function of grand brain, small brain and the truncus of brain.
In this state by controlled ventlation will be continued artifically the function of heart and circolation
We respect arduously the guidelines of the National Medical Association ("Bundesärztekammer") regarding the definition of brain-death word by word ...
2. Diagnostics
- Diagnostic measueres of brain-death
a) Conditions:
- heavy, acute damage of brain (short version)
- EXCLUSION of :
- Intoxication,
- attenuated action of medicines
- neurmuscular blockades
- primary undercooling (hypthermia)
- circulatory shock,
- COMA of endocrine, metabolic or inflammatroy illness as pssible
cause or con-cause of breakdown of cerebral function in this period of checking.
-b) CLINICAL symptoms of broken down function of brain:
(in short terms)
- Coma,
- rigid pupils
- absence of the oculo-cephalic reflex,
- absence of the corneal reflex,
- absence of dolorific stimuli in the area of n. Trigeminus,
- absence of pharyngeal- und tracheal reflex,
- breakdown of spontaneous ventilation (at 60 Torr CO2.)

Evaluations
1. Brain death
a) It is another question, if the brain-death ist equal of the TOTAL death of the WHOLE man.
As doctors for life we say a clear NO, because our convinctionis, that there is no separation between the unity of corpus and soul.
b) The word "soul" You have to interpret biblically.
What ist "soul" in a biblical sense?
This are YOU, is a fenition, recently red by me.l
Soul in this sense is not a totality of sensations in the sense of the medical word "psyche".

2. Evaluation of diagnostics of brain death
Prof. Dr.med. C. Coimbra (Sao Paulo) has published, that he had analised the percorse of patients, which had fullfilled all criteria - without the apnoe-test.
He writes, that from these people turned back after some days with a restant function of brain.
Another test had have the results, that so diagnostisised patients turned eventually back, when by PET a vita minima was detectable
Overmore he has demonstrated, that the APNOE-TEST brings the vita minima to an end!
If this is all right, I cannot say other than to say, that this respiratory-test eventually killes a man.

4. Scientific conclusions
Resulting of modern, scientific reasons:
it speakes against every sanity,
to hang on the brain-death concept (Brain-death = total death).
Justification:
The question, if the brain death ist the total death, can be answered only by the humanities, but not the natural sciences.
